These tweezers have a small indent in the end to easily grasp the bead, and the slide lock engages the bead so that it can be slid onto the hook without losing one bead. When Tom sent me a prototype of the Hackle Nabbers I called and told him he wasn't going to get them back. They hold the hackle very well and the “slide” is easier to engage than pinching open standard hackle pliers. I also use them for wrapping biots, holding my broken thread while I reload my bobbin and lots of other odd jobs. These tools need to be used to be appreciated.
