FLIES - DRY FLY - Caddisflies

Dancing Caddis

Dancing Caddis, ginger

~ typical dry flies, after a few casts, tend to sit heavy on the water. With the hook pointing down, they can drag through the water in an unnatural way and limit our success. Not so with the Dancing Caddis. There are no parts of this fly that hang down. Even the hook point rides up. This means that the fly rests flush on the surface and presents the proper silhouette when fished dead drift or with a twitch.

The smallest tug will send it skating across the water surface. Be careful when you twitch this fly, it moves so fast, one has a tendency to over do. Just the lightest of tugs will give this fly great trigger action. Works well on moving water and still water. Ever notice how stillwater caddisflies "run" across the lake surface after emerging. This fly skates beautifully, leaving the same "V" wake on the water. Tip: grease the whole leader.
