Improve your casting presentation with The Fly Fisher's Furled Leaders (handmade in Olympia, WA). These Furled Leaders are amazing. Theyre solid, dont spray water, transmit power and turn over the fly beautifully. Even in windy conditions. And since they're woven tighter than other furled leaders, you get a very quiet, soft landing. Strong, powerful, accurate.
They are tapered by using a secret method. Quality materials and construction give this leader three times the life expectancy versus regular tapered leaders. They are quite different than a braided leader which is made around a hollow core. The furling is accomplished by twisting and looping monofilament around itself, so it has no hollow core and picks cleanly off the water leaving no "rooster tail".
The original furled leaders came with a mono loop, the creator George Beech searched high and low for the perfect metal ring to eliminate loop closing and accidental clipping of the loop when making tippet changes. It's very tiny but strong and has incredible break strength, but is still light enough to be used on a floating leader. It is highly unnoticeable, makes for easier tippet changes, and extends the life of the leader. Mono loop leaders are still available by special request.
To eliminate confusion that some customers have voiced, these are the same leaders that Feather-Craft carries. Since George and Gary were friends, we've been proud to carry George's leaders for many years. We are glad that George got lined up with Feather-Craft. These are great leaders, and the more hands they get into, the faster word-of-mouth will travel, and more fly-fishers will get to have that Wow-Experience!

An ancient idea. Modern materials. Put them together and you have the finest leader for dry fly fishing and shallow water nymphing. The Furled Leader is absolutely the greatest design for transmitting power between the fly line and the tippet. It allows the angler to cast accurately and delicately with slack line presentations in all conditions at varying distances.
Furled Leaders have been around since the 18th century, when they were made from horse hair. They are very different from braided leaders. The weaving process itself is different -- and as a result a Furled Leader is solid. There is no hollow center.
Casting with furled leaders puts a smile on your face and
makes your day of fishing far more productive as well as enjoyable!

Fast-Sinking *Fluorocarbon*
FURLED LEADERS
We are starting to think with these two sinking versions of furled leaders, we may make light sink tip fly lines obsolete. The good thing about these sinking leaders is you can cast them is they turn over a fly with ease, and one usually has a hard time casting sink tip lines without hitting themselves with the line or the fly sometime during the day.
Virtually invisible in water, fluorocarbon absorbs light rather than reflecting it, but is impervious to sunlight and lasts for years. Four times as abrasive resistant as nylon and has great knot strength. Plus its density allows it to sink four times faster than nylon. Perfect for wet and dry fly tippets. As a dry fly tippet, it sinks just under the surface, eliminating floating tippet glare.
The enjoyment of being able to fish at different levels of the water column and not having to worry about the difficulty of casting a sink tip fly line (which seldom goes where you want it to go in the first place), is a big bonus. And they work well in both salt and fresh water.
But perhaps the biggest reason to fish these fluorocarbon leaders is that they increase the number of strikes. They'll work on both floating and full-sinking fly lines, as well as sink tip line. They also enhance the clear intermediate fly lines with their ultra-low visibility near the fly. Because of this low visibility one can fish heavier test tippets and still feel confident that the fish won't see them.
These full-sinking fluorocarbon Furled Leaders are tremendous for deep water nymphing and streamer techniques. They kick weighted flies over wonderfully; and they cut through the currents to carry those patterns deep.
But the greatest use for full-sinking fluorocarbon Furled Leaders is for stillwater fly fishing. They allow you to fish different levels of the water column. In lakes these leaders sink straight, without a belly; and that is such an incredible advantage when it comes to setting the hook. Our fluorocarbon Furled Leaders will increase your catch rate by 15 to 25 percent in stillwaters simply because you will set the hook so much quicker.
The best way to describe how the uniform sinking leader fishes is to picture using it on a lake with a floating line. When it is cast out it fishes at a 45 degree angle from the end of the floating line. It does the same thing in rivers but is harder to envision because of the effect of moving water. The Uniform Sinking Leader is a great nymph leader and pulls streamer patterns down those few extra inches that make all the difference.

STREAMER FURLED LEADERS with micro-swivel
George Beech searched high & low for this special, exact tiny micro-swivel that is on the tip end of the leader, instead of the tiny ring. The tiny micro-swivel allows you to strip any streamer, bugger or baitfish pattern all day long without your line, leader or tippet twisting! Available for both fresh and saltwater.
STRIKE INDICATOR FURLED LEADERS
Combine an integrated 18" fluorescent-red butt section with a powerful taper design and you've got a nymphing rig that can turn over double-nymphs and split shot with ease. Also excellent when fishing wet flies, nymphs and emergers just under the surface using the "greased line" technique. Just grease the leader with floatant from the line atachment section towards your fly with floatant from the line attachment section towards your fly stopping at the point where you want your fly hanging below the surface. You can also grease the red section for higher buoyancy.
