MATCHING HATCHES MADE EASYby Charlie Meck Charlie believes "Matching Hatches Made Easy" to be one of his best books (he has written some great ones; more than 12 fly-fishing and fly-tying books). He is particularly fond of his Quick Trim flies — a very cool idea. Here are a few of the book’s highlights: secrets for finding & fishing the hatches; ten simple lessons that cover bug basics (major hatches, timing, unorthodox strategies, best streams for certain hatches); new atch Matcher & Quick Trim flies; hatch charts for the entire United States. |
EUROPEAN NYMPHINGwith Aaron Jasper —watch the trailer— In this second video, Aaron shows you how to apply all the fly fishing techniques learned in his first video, European Nymphing - Techniques and Fly Tying. Through ten unique scenarios and conditions, Aaron shows you how to approach the water, target the fish, and bring the fish to net. They patiently waited for certain scenarios to arise on the river, so they could take you directly to them. You will understand how to use the various methods of czech nymphing, polish nymphing, french nymphing, and spanish nymphing to target fish in any set of conditions. |
THE MASTER'S FLY BOXby David Klausmeyer The Master’s Fly Box brings together comprehensive interviews with 15 well-known anglers about the flies and fishing techniques they use to catch trout across North America. With more than 100 full-color photographs of their flies with complete pattern recipes, as well as photographs of the anglers, it provides a range of insights into the secrets of the masters of the art. |

ADVANCED TACTICS FOR EMERGERS & DRIES |
|
In his second volume of the "Fly Fishing, the Book" Series, Gary Borger defines the characteristics of the fish's three types of lies and shows how to identify them in all waters. Gary then embarks on a tour covering little streams to massive rivers. He defines and discusses riffles, pools, rapids, runs, flats, and more—pointing out the locations of sheltering lies, feeding lies, and prime lies. Then there's the "secret river" that few fly fishers know, and fewer still seriously fish. |

by Jim Kissane
We can sure sell a lot of Gary's fly patterns, but for some reason we can't seem to give them away! Fly-tying time is well under way with fishing season just around the corner, so I fully expect to start seeing some "fishy" tales swim in from out there.
Send in those stories - what do you have to lose? If we use your tale, you'll not only be famous but there's a free pack of flies in it for you too!
Share your own valuable bit of fly-fishing or tying wisdom and if we decide to use it on our website, we'll send you a free 1/2 dozen pack of Gary LaFontaine's Private Label Flies.
Submit your own "fishy" Tale fly-fishing or tying tip, story. or joke and win!

| TYING TIP Emergent Sparkle Pupa |
The famous fly, LaFontaine Emergent Sparkle Pupa, is the subject of many customer questions. One of our fellow webbies and tyers, Rob O'Reilly, has unraveled its mysterious recipe on his own Canada website page. Even if you've tied hundreds of this fly, it's worth the look (click the "cool" fish). Rob did a great job explaining step-by-step instructions along with awesome detailed pictures. Although he did say he hadn't anticipated the clear antron's "sparkle" being so hard to photograph. Thanks for pursuing, Rob!
